My baby is turning 8 months old. The problem is he's been having sleepless night for the past 3 months. I really can't figure out why and don't know what to do. I change his diaper and feed him with milk before I go to sleep; that is about 11pm-12am every night, hoping that he will not wake up in the middle of the night. But he still wakes up every night around 2am-4am. This make me really tired coz I have to go to work in the morning. Please help me...thanks!

Thanks all! So ok..i will feed him with cereal before he sleeps but what about milk? He won't drink his milk if he already has his cereal before bedtime. Do i let him sleep after cereal and without milk?

Try playing soft music and try a soft nightlight. Or you can place a bottle of water with him so when he wakes up it's there for him. Or you can try to see if he'll cry himself back to sleep. Babies go through periods were they sleep all through the night and then they don't. Also try giving him some cereal (baby) at night to fill up his belly a little more, make it warm or try some warm milk.

A baby at 8 months needs more than just milk. Give him some cereal before bed and he will sleep longer.

It will pass as he gets older but for the time being, when he wakes, go into his room - no lights or maybe just a night light, don't speak to him, just change him, feed him or whatever his problem is - may just be a case of tucking him in tighter. Then leave the room. Have as little disruption as you can so he understands that it is time he is supposed to be asleep.
It's not unusual for an 8 month old to not be sleeping through yet but it wont be long, hang in there.

Give him some baby cereal. You may have to give him food around 10 p.m. Last night, I could not sleep so I ate a big serving of cereal and that really put me to sleep. This goes for babies too. You need carbs for the production of serotonin. Without serotonin its hard to fall asleep. iI forgot to mention that Melotonin the sleep harmone is also produced after eating.

I have the same problem, mine is 9 months now, and he used to sleep through the night till his 6th month. His pediatrician told me this is due to his teething, she also advised me to give him a warm bath, and a dose of Tylenol infant drops before he went to bed....AND IT WORKED!!!!! WE HAVE BEEN SLEEPING WELL FOR THE PAST 3 WEEKS NOW.
P.S. I feed him rice cereal at around 8 p.m, bathe him after that, and he's in bed by maximum 10 p.m

Good luck

Its just a fase he`s going through. Most new borns sleep non-stop for the fisrt few weeks or coulpe months, but as they grow their sleeping patterns change. Don`t worry, If you keep pounding the fact that night time is for sleeping he will eventually get it and sleep through the nights once more.

Kids go through stages. There isn't much to do about it (other than perhaps get someone else to stay awake with the kid).
