Any hormonal contraception can cause you to have irregular periods. However, if you've been using the same product for than 3 months and your "usual" changes then it is wise to check a pregnancy test. Remember that hormonal birthcotnrol has a 1% failure rate so 1 out of every 100 sexually active women using the product will get pregnant each year they use it. The only perfect birth control is complete abstinence.

Yes, it can happen even after being on the patch for so long. That's why they say see a doctor if you miss two periods in a row. If you are absolutely sure that you've been using your patch correctly, then the chances of you being pregnant is so very slight. Meaning your patch never slipped off not even once, you've changed it when you need to and you don't take medication that could interferre with your bodies absorbtion of the hormones including antibiotics, st johns wort, epilepsy medication or mood stabilisers and so on.

If you are concerned that you are pregnant, you can always take a test. If you miss your period next month call your doctor. Do not stop applying patches until you know whether or not you are pregnant (you could compromise your protection). Birth control is safe during early pregnancy.

Sometimes it happens on birth control, you should just continue to take the pills/ apply the patches as usual. That is what a doctor told me. If you find out you are pregnant discontinue immediately.

... I personally know TWO women who have become pregnant on the patch.

sure, inspite of the reality that it really is somewhat not likely. (it really is extra likely to get pregnant in case you do not take the pill jointly usual.) each day you're taking a pill it is going to start up to cut back it really is concentration in the route of the top of 24 hrs. in case you're taking the subsequent pill later than you usually do, there's a window of time the position the drug/hormones isn't any longer waiting to paintings to boot because the most purpose is too low. My pharmacist counseled taking it interior an identical hour usual (for me it changed into between 7-8am). you could also look on the insert that consists of the tablets for added innovations.

According to the prescribing information for Ortho-Evra, you may miss one period and not have anything to worry about (but you do need to tell your Dr.). However, if you miss two periods, you need to have a preg. test done.

If you are concerned at all, I would go ahead and do a preg. test. It wouldn't hurt anything to do that.
