Goldfish are cool water fish. Once the water temp hits about 50 degrees, they're going to start slowing down. If you don't mind seasonal breeding, I'd go with an outdoor pond. Otherwise, I'd put them inside.

Breed goldfish in outdoor ponds. Goldfish are coldwater fish that do not require heating. Plant lots of greenery in your pond to give the goldfish a place to spawn.

The goldfish needs to be inside. If its koi, it can be outside, but if its a true goldfish, definately inside.

i live in australia. temperatures between -1degC in winter and 45degC in summer. outside is the way to go here. the only way to breed them indoors here is to artificially spawn them (squeezing eggs out and squeezing milt over the top). However, in an outdoor pond, where they are able to notice the changing seasons, they breed freely on their own.
