Thanks guys for responding. Infectious, you certainly know how to present a case. Your points are well made. I am in no way an apologist of the CESA website. Sitting here in Sydney (with lots of family still in Cape Town) its difficult to pass judgement. The truth is though that crime has got steadily worse in the 8 years since I left. I would really like SA to be rid of it once and for all (well most of it then!), but it would be folly to ignore whats on CESA, if only half of it is true. I cant trust the ANC as they want to stay in power, so their statistics are worthless. I like what you say about finding a solution. But without the POLITICAL conviction to throw more and more resources at the problem, my fear is that its going to get worse. Just look at the quality of people flooding in from Nigeria and other corrupt places up North. I wish I could be more optimistic, I really do, but I am not forecasting an improvement anytime soon, certainly not before the World Cup. Groete!
