Yes, "theists."
By the way, I think religion just GETS IN THE WAY of your relationship with and/or connection to God!

Just as an 'athiest' is someone who believes that there is no god, a 'thiest' is a person who believes that a 'god' exists. Thiests can be non religious, believing that god does not have any interest in them.

Religion is a set of rules associated with some belief system. Christianity believes in God and has two rules. As it is a relationship (and not a religion), these rules are associated with this relationship and are based on developing it. Thr rules?
1) Love God.
2) Love each other.

Hope that answers your question.

My friends and I just had this discussion at lunch not to long ago. I am a devote Catholic. And we go to church almost every Sunday. But I have a friend that says she believes in God, prays to him. But does not have any specific Religion. She believes that he is every where and you don't need to go to or believe in any certain religion to be a child of God. And she made some good points. He is every where. And he does hear her prayers even if she is not praying in church.
I am not sure if there is a word for it or not.

Anything that a person who believes in God does to worship God is their "religion." Religion, by definition, is the set of rules and rituals we use to worship God or gods.

A religion of 1 is still a "religion."

Not worshipping a God you believe in may be possible, but that's the only way to avoid religion completely in your scenario.

Either theist or deist can be used to describe a person like me who believes in God but doesn't buy into a religion. My wife is one, too. Technically, a theist is anyone who believes in God, whether or not they claim membership in a religion. Theist is the opposite of atheist. Thomas Paine was a deist and American patriot. He wrote a famous treatise called "Why I am Not a Christian". I don't have it in front of me right now, but one of the quotes is something along the lines of "My own mind is my church." Sounds about right to me.

The word you are looking for is spiritualist. I know there is a God. He has helped me in at one very bad time, when I came to the conclusion I was an alcoholic. On the other hand I do have lots of trouble with "organized religion". It seems to me to be comprised of a bunch of rules of should and should nots. The only thing necessary to be saved in the Christian way is to believe that Jesus died on the cross for ALL our sins. I suggest you to to www.caniknow.com for a much better explanation.

You certainly can. Religion has gotten, in some ways, corrupt. But the belief in God hasn't. As for a word that describes it, I'm sure I could come up with one, but I'm very tired right now. How about "self-sustaining"?

Belief in God has nothing to do with Religion. The latter has been created by egoistical humans to control the ill educated masses. I dont know what the word is.

I agree with the consensus as I do not believe in religion but I do believe in God. Most churches that I have been to are corrupt and hypocritical to say the least.

I believe in the existence of God 'Who' is anywhere, everywhere I do not have a religon. It's a opposing cause and effect, what one does now will be effected in the future. I believe what I do now will reflect back like a mirror. I am a Free Thinker.
