Intrinsically a piece of string has length but that length is unknown hence the
: the phrase 'how long is a piece of string' means that the quantitative answer is not known and there is an implicate understanding that the answer will be difficult to find given the information available

somewhat of string would nicely be any length. there is, for this reason, no unmarried excellent answer to the question. So on each occasion there is yet another question to which there is no man or woman coreect answer human beings will say "How lengthy is somewhat of string?" to reveal that they sense that there is no man or woman perfect answer to the question

Depends on how much you pick a fight with it.
Most string I know of is very peaceful.
A piece of string, however, can either be as long as you want it to be, or as long as it is.
