Every aspect of this film is eligible for Oscars the actors, the theme of the Movie , the direction of the movie. Only Omkara is the other movie would could have contestest to Rang de Basanti eligibilty for Oscars. The freedom of India is in the hands of todays youth and not in the hands of Old politicians who only know how to make money is well described in this movie. So hats off to all members of the movie and Best of luck

Honestly it’s not that impressive.

Depicting a message in a certain way is not a sufficient reason to presume an Oscar performance. Then again lobbying hard (that too for the second time) for the Oscars and giving too much credence to an award system that itself has had nothing much to do with our country is sort of a hypocrisy. Especially when Aamir Khan presumes his boycott of most Indian awards as a gracious patriotic act. It is just the mentality that we hold of advanced western practices being ‘set standards’.

I definitely would vouch for other production/s of the season but if RDB has been selected I guess we critics can do a tad bit better then AK - by supporting its performance at the awards more as a nationalistic pride then anything else.

So Lage Raho RDB !!!

Rang De Basanti is eligible for the Oscar award because it contains both action and sentiments. Moreover Aamir Khan and some other Tamil actors have performed their roles well.
Further the songs like loose control are fascinating .thus i conclude that Rang De Basanti is the best film of the year 2006....................

This movie is different than the ones seen so far this year. People can watch this movie over and over and it carries a true message in a non-preachy way for every Indian to make a difference in this country and/or world even if you have to risk your life for it. The youths of India should stand up and say they want change from the government so that India becomes a better place and developed country. These characters in the movie are killed only because they chose to make a difference in India and if every youth of India did this then there would be no corruption like there is now. If people care about India then they will make a difference regardless of what happens to them is what makes true citizens of India and other countries. Poverty, slums, hunger would dissappear if people want to make a diffence which people are not doing at the moment and are just sitting back and watching the show.

RANG DE BASANTI is a unique presentation of the youth of today,it has taken indian cinema thousands of miles further. I think it rightly deserves the OSCAR for the writers guts to think of such a climax otherwise till now we have only seen happy but dramatical endings, this movie is beyond all fantasies it is actually a truth in its own way. the story may not be true but the feelings truly are.

Well! Basically its the strong lobbying that has gone in for the nominations. At any point of time, 'Omkara' was a better option with a compelling Indian storyline and an Shakesperean Theame! ? But we all know well that Amir is a great lobbyist... with Oscar nomitations, its always lobbying (wether at Natioanl Level or Internatioanl) that does the trick. Amir had learnt the art (of lobbying) with Lagaan and now has come of age (in mastering it). Altho RDB is not a bad choice altogether, but the entire storyline collpases at the end with a negetive image of the government!

Ofcourse for its very practical and realistic theme. This film shows the current indian political status in a natural way and how the youngsters are struggling out to express their views. The main reason for its nomiation to Oscars is, this film is accepted by most of the people where the others not! Anyway , this film is not about Oscar but about our country. Result is NO CHANGE!
