Hard to say what happen in the first inffinitesimal instants after the big bang. Some say the big bang was too dense to let light escape (opaque) so any matter could propagate sound, but, was the primordial soup matter?

Light. Because for there to be sound, a medium must be present through which sound can travel. And there was light long before such a medium was present.
