1. For facial expression. One of the clearest ways to tell somebody what you're thinking is to simply move your eyebrows up or down -- we all know what different eyebrow positions mean.
2. Eyebrows help keep moisture out of our eyes when we sweat or walk around in the rain (the arch shape diverts the rain or sweat around to the sides of our face). Diverting the sweat away is good because the salt in sweat irritates the eyes, making them sting a little.

Look at some pictures of Jack Nicholson and notice his eyebrows. His are some of the most expressive I've seen, especially in a sexually suggestive way. I think eyebrows are the punctuation marks in our face communications with each other. Especially for flirting. So I think the ultimate reason we have eyebrows is to help us flirt and winding up reproducing.
Yeah, Jack Nicholson's eyebrows and sexual reproduction. I'm not taking it back. ;)

Forget all the studies, research, articles and all the other detailed spewing about what eyebrows do, what they will look like in the future, how they catch dust etc...
People have eyebrows because they were born that way!
