S.O.S. == Save Our Ship. Back when Morse code was widely used for long-distance communications, it was an easy one to remember: ... --- ... (dot dot dot dash dash dash dot dot dot).

Mayday = a shortened version of "Venez m’aider" ("Come help me", in French). When long-distance radio frequency voice communications became possible, this simply evolved into a standard.)

SOS was first created on Germany in the early 1990s for the purpose of emergency telegraph messaging system, also got popular during the WW[s]...

May day started right the French Revolution at the end of 1700s considering the National Work Day, May 1st

both SOS and MAY Day were imported through "cultures" from all over the European societies, just another function of cultural transaction i might say.

S O S stands for Save Our Ship, it's easier to remember and far easier to communicate using Morse code which can be modified to any language not just English which May Day would only make sense in.

I think S.O.S origanaly stood for "save our ship. I don't know about Mayday

someone was in danger during the month of may in a plane that was having problems and suddenly he shouted ''mayday mayday''! because it was in the month of May.


SOS became SOS because of Someone Or Something that happened
