I believe that all men, and females, need to be physical. After all we had to be physical to be the champion to be born. We, as spermatozoa, had to beat possibly millions like ourselves to be a finalist at the womb. Those born successful are the "creme of the crop". It is the environment that we are exposed to that determines the level of character we would become in this life. I strongly believe that sports (specifically team sports) is one of the greatest mediums to build character. It is a discipline that teaches us to share with others, have comraderie, earn expertise (standards) through ones own applied performance, support other team members with positive encouragement, show leadership, good attitude. I believe that all "homo sapiens" must partake in a physical discipline to be considered normal. Those that don't, become "funny" people. Getting along with our peers is an indication of normalcy. This is most important. Many academics don't have this background. Who is smart?

Intelligence merely gives a level of what a person might be able to perceive, understand and manipulate in their environment. a more accurate prediction of ones smartness would be their emotional intelligence for a person with great IQ might not have the ability to convey their smartness to others. I suggest reading the book Emotional Intelligence.

A smart person is one that perceives, understands and manipulates their environment accurately with the ability to accurately relay their objective and interpreted observations to others who has the ability to be empathic.

There are a lot of unrelated statements here that are thrown together. Please allow me to cut through the crap like a laser,

1) Obviously applying a person's skill set and intelligence in an effective manner can improve your life, but the phrase "being intelligent" is vague and meaningless without clarification.

2) Sperm cells that successfully impregnate the egg are not necessarily better than the others. Many other factors, such as luck and random chance, are at play.

3) Many people feel that sports reveal character, they dont build it.

4) Even if sports do build character and teach us to share, etc, they aren't the ONLY activities that teach these things. Some kids grew up in environments where sports were not allowed, and they are just as well-adjusted to modern society as other people.

5) Humans might have to partake in sports to be considered normal by your definition, but your definition of normalcy is crappy,

Discipline is a much maligned quality for good reason. Discipline has been used for power since the first group of people busted out of Eden, ha ha. And if I have it straight, the last group of people that use Discipline for power will find themselves busting into hell. It is only poetic justice you know.
