I've never been a nerd or into science, but i though of this question to ask. I notice that people land on other planets and when u see it they're just walking around on it and it looks the same as a map would show it. Wich makes me wonder, are we inside of the earth,or on top of it,i think we are inside. I'm only 14,just curious. SO please help me out with this.

I'll find out for myself in the future, once space travel becomes easy and quick, they already have a space bus people take, but i don't wanna do that. I want to be able to actually get to space in my car to find out for myself.

Personally, I agree with NOYB's last comment. The atmosphere should be considered as part of the Earth since it does not escape Earth's gravity. We would be living inside this "total" earth the same way you would consider a fish living IN the ocean. Our "ocean" is just made up of gases, not water.

This can get deeply philosophical, though. GREAT question!

If we were living inside the earth, there should be a way to come out of it.
The earth looks flat but remeber that it is actually round or rather a globe. When you look up in the night you can see the moon and stars and in the day time you can see the sun that means you are at a place where you can see space. That means you are on the surface of the earth or in your terms, on the top of the earth.

For being 14 this is a very complex question. Personally I have never given it any thought. Though, this can be taken in in more ways than one obviously. Have you ever heard the phrase... "Sittin on top of the world." Well, to my knowledge we are on earth due to gravity. Otherwise we'd be floating around i'm sure. When you state inside the earth, that would mean that we were in the core, and that we are not. The atmosphere can be considered the world if you want it to be, in which we are inside of the world... BUT... that wouldn't be scientifically correct.

What exactly do you mean by inside? Do you mean below the surface? Obviously we are not. That would require a thin crust spearated from the mass below it which is totally unstable. So we are on the surface of the world like a fly walking around on an apple or a beach ball.

We are on the surface of the Earth. I'm not sure what you mean by inside it??? The Earth is a solid object, not hollow, so if we were in it we would be underground. We can see the sky and space so we are obviously not underground.

We are living out side the earth NOT inside.

If the earth is hollow you can not walk inside the shell. Gravity will push you down to the center.
And several other indications prove we are on the out side.
