No unfortunetly not. Recently Nintendo has made the news that the Wii won't even be dvd compatible, mostly because most households have them anyway. Only Sony's PS3 has blue ray at the moment, and that is one of the main reasons why the PS3 costs $500-600. Blue-ray's value alone is around $1000, so for $600 in a PS3 is a pretty good bargain. But it all depends if blue-ray will become a sucess in the future. I'm pretty sure blue-ray players and tvs won't be in most households any time sooner because of the price. I give it 5-10 years at least.

If Nintendo Wii was blue-ray compatible, then Nintendo would most certainly raise its price to atleast $400. But that is something that Nintendo cannot really afford at the moment. Sony is already incredibly rich with the ps2, and Microsoft has the richest man in the world, Bill Gates to help fund the X-box/360 systems.

Right now in this generation Nintendo are trying to play it inexpensive and is sacrificing brute force hardware for gameplay. Its definetly caught an interest of many. You should see the lines at E3. Nintendo lines were more then 3x longer then PS3 lines! lol

hope this helps (:

At this time, the Nintendo Wii will not play blu-ray discs. But who knows? The Gamecube couldn't play DVDs but eventually Panasonic released a Gamecube system that could play both DVD and Gamecube discs! Perhaps the Nintendo Wii will do the same thing with the blu-ray discs sometime. Heres to hoping! Regardless I am definately buying the system.

Nope, the Wii cannot play Blue-Ray movies or in fact DVDs. The only thing the Wii does play are Gamecube Games and Wii games. The Playstation 3 is the only video game console that will play Blue Ray Movies.

No, nor does it play Dvd. You want blu-ray, it'll be 1000 for a player or 600 for a ps3 which will become outdated quickly. Wait for either blue ray or hd-dvd to die off before investing in hardware for this. Just buy a bigger tv, better sound system, furniture, etc instead of anything blue ray related, much more worth the money at this point.

Your Probably thinking of the Play Station 3. The Wii plays wii games and Gamecube games. PS3 plays blue-ray, and PS3 games

No it will not be Blue Ray capable that's how they were able to keep the costs down. A big part of why the PS3 is going to be so much money is because of the parts costs for making it Blue Ray capable. :)=

Nope, the drive itself would cost the price of the Wii (exaggerating, but you get my point).
