Is it true that people from the North talk much faster then people from the South?

People always say I talk way to fast..

I've heard people in the Est talk really fast and it gradually slows down the farther West you go. The South is just unique, I think. I would expect them to talk more like people in the West.

I don't think so. My boyfriend is from the North and I'm from the South, and he talks as fast as I do. I think it is a myth.

I'm from Pa and when I lived in Ky everyone kept telling me to slowww dowwwnnn when I spoke, and when my mom went to Fla, they said the same thing to her too. I remember after I was in Ky for two years, I started to talk slower, dragging out some of my words, and one night my ex husband and i were watching t.v. and we were listening to this newscaster from Pa and all the sudden we both looked at each other and started laughing so hard because he sounded like he was on fast-forward, so I believe there is a difference. Ps i have noticed too that Texans speak as fast as us northerners.

People in the north do everything faster. The south is just more laid back.

If you ever met my half sister you would never ask that question again, because she is from the south and talks like 300 miles a minute. Makes your head spin, especially because she never and I mean NEVER shuts up!

Depends on who you are around I grew up in New York then lived in Texas for about 13 years. Really didnt think their wasmuch difference except the accents.

That is true, but also Northerners think slower than Southerners.
That's why Southerners talk slow, their already thinking of their next sentence whereas Northerners speak without thinking, especially New Yorkers.
