It's not Aaloathil Aalamaram..

it is AAthorathille AAlamaram..

that means

Banyan Tree near River...

i think you have got it wrong .In the present form it does not make any sense.It should be
"aarorattil aalamaram" meaning the banyan tree on the bank of the river.
splitting will read as "aaru orattil oru aalamaram
while writing this i recalled a word on the mohenjadaro seal which says" Iru oorukkum orey talaivan"(meaning chieftain of both the villages)
