1) read the story
2) outline the major points you want to cover in your essay
3) write the essay
4) read it over about a day later, and make changes as appropriate
5) be sure to check spelling and grammar before you turn it in

talk about how it gives the reader a sense of Edgar Allen Poe's style. and possible talk about symbolism-does the cask of amontillado meaning something?why is it amontillado and not something else?

a major part of the story is Poe's use of irony. Perhaps you could write about how he uses it as a form of description
