ok..the smiley face is right beside the log out button..or you can add a friend my right clicking on their names and click add as friend( when they type something..)

Look. I haven't played for 2 years and yet I can still remember where it is! Its on the interface...(the place full of stuff like a knapsack(for inventory), or body with lots of arrows arround it.(thats for what you are wearing, how heavy the stuff you are wearing...) in the bottom right hand corner of your inventory box(not bank inventory) click on the icon on the lower left hand corner then type there name,or in the the chat box click on there name and it will say add "persons name" to friends list,then click it and they are added(if their chat is set on friends option they need to add you so you can private mesage them no matter where in the game they are,and no matter what world)
