I heard that works excellent. Also if you have any decessed animals in your house it is a good idea to bury them also. The smell scares potential buyers away. Your mom is an unusual Lutheran. I never heard of anyone suggesting such a thing except for a very few Catholics. There is nothing wrong of course with asking Saint Joseph or any saint to intercede on your behalf, just as there is nothing wrong with asking your family and friends to intercede on your behalf.
