jason s,
I guess that most people go their own way. If I can, I will restate your question, so that maybe you'll understand what I am saying better.

"What's important to you?"
The most important thing to me is my relationship with God. I am not straying here, I am Bi-sexual. But God is my best friend, my only friend here is Orange County, CA. I am in an area heavily inundated with california christians-- that is; those that believe in family, and community, and attempting to live a sinless life. So to some of them I am a backslider. What they don't seem to catch is that I am spending a lot mopre time with God, and not caring what I seem like to others, which they seem to put a lot of value on, the appearance to others that is.

What my elected officials are doing: I'm in California. They don't vote very much according to my wishes here. I'm also conservative. So You might surmise that I am not welcome in amny circles. A Bi, Chirstian, Conservative, who doesn't think that he can live a sinless life.

Oh well! I guess that God will have to get me through this one too!

I'm old enough to see a lifetime of struggle for the ability to live life the same way as heterosexuals (well hopefully with more of a sense of humor) about to go down the toilet basically because of complacency. This is nothing new, this has been going on for 20+ years when the christian coalition first waged political warfare on a grass roots level by getting elected to school boards. This is the end result.

On the other hand, even though I vote appropriately, if the party I participate in doesn't bring me a candidate that is up to the job, then what is the point?

I am not politically involved so my ability to complain simply only goes so far as my mouth (I vote in every election, I get to complain), so its my own fault if we are being thrown back to the closet to be able to live safely among the morons instead of internment camps.

Basically we get what we give in life, and thank you all who do put yourselves out there, but I'm tired and my closets while clean always seem to need to be straightened (no pun intended)out.

I was actually talking about this with a friend the other day. People much rather bars and partying nowadays because we have elected officials like Bush who are going to f up the world whether we like it or not. So if you ask a young person about politics they wont know or care nowadays- and really what is the point until we get that monkeys a@@ out of office.

Honestly I find it really sad that so few glbt people even bother to vote...I worked in a federal election last january in a predominantly gay riding...and I was shocked that so few people came in to vote.. So I don't know how gay people can complain a lot of the time about the way that they are treated when they can't be bothered to exercise their vote...

Sometimes I need to have fun, but politics is important, especially local. Politics determines whether that bar stays open or is harassed out of existence with zoning laws, what young LGBT kids are taught about their sexuality in your local school, etc.

Oh, and one of the things I love about my wife is that she's even more Libertarian than I am.

Well I would never be with someone that didn't have anything in common with me especially politics and I definitely would never date a heart less liberal...gross! So both are important to me.I do support all gays and their rights.

I think most people can handle both w/out too much trouble
would u rather waste time on misguided gastropods or adopt a starving needy child overseas.....what's your priority !

why not both?

I can party/enjoy myself, and keep up with current events. Whoa! in fact, i do that now!!

but i get your point. it seems that many gays care little about real issues, and seem more intent on where their next hit of meth is coming from. and that is a sad truth about our community.
