If you wash your face too much...you're actually drying out your skin...which makes your skin produce even MORE oil.

Um...go to a public bathroom one day...and take those toilet paper thingy's...the ones your put on the toilet and then sit...so you don't sit directly on the toilet...Cheah. Take a couple of those...break them into little pieces (so nobody will ever know what they are)...and carry them around with you...And when you feel your face getting oily...just use one of those...It'll absorb all the oil in your face...

I have very oily skin, too. Washing your face more will NOT help your oily skin. It'll only make your skin more oily because it is producing more because you're washing your face too much. Two to three times a day is plenty. You need to use a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer for oily skin (yes, you do need moisturizer even though you have oily skin). Clean and clear has a great line for your skin type. Then use the Clean and Clear oil absorbing sheets. I couldn't live without those! Oh, if you wear foundation make up, Neutrogena has a great skin clearing oil free kind.

I have the same problem. DO NOT use face wash for oily skin. It dries it out too much and your face will produce more oil because it senses it is too dry. Try OC 8, its a mattifying gel that controls the oil. It works pretty good.

I don't think you need to go to a dermatologist right now. I would suggest getting good skin care products, that's the key. Check out the website below, and you can see Tyra Banks' routine, that she uses at night. It really works.

Make sure that you are using non-comedogenic, so it won't make your skin oily, and break your face out. I think it would be a good idea to use something in the morning for your skin, like a moisturizer.

Believe it or not - moisturize. When you scrub all the oil off your face your skin is prompted to produce more. It turns into a viscious cycle. So wash with a good anti acne soap and then use a moisturizer...several of the acne companies (clearasil, oxy..etc) make them or you can ask the pharmacist or a dermatologist for a reccomendation.

Safest, cheapest, most natural remedy. Mix a paste of Arm and Hammer baking soda and water. Spread it on you face, let it dry. You'll feel your face tighten up. When it dries up and you can't stand it anymore, rinse it off. Keeps the natural ph balance of your face, doesn't strip your skin and dry it out like the commercial products do. And if you're really in a pinch, though it's not as safe, take one of those sheets that you throw in the dryer, and that will quickly get rid of the excess oil. But baking soda works wonders, and it won't harm your skin. Listerine on a cotton ball will also work. And believe it or not, Colgate toothpaste will work in a pinch.

Go to a dermatologist.

I have very oily skin too. I wash my face 2x a day and have 3 different topical medications that I use. Keeps my face quiet clear and reduces oil dramatically if used consistently.
