We went to the park and played basketball and when we got home took off our shoes and socks and left them in the garage but I went inside for a little bit when I came back outside my friend had my sock to his snose sniffing it really hard and I then slammed the door to so he would know I was there and he put my sock in his pocket any idea why he did this what he is doing?

Since he was doing it when he thought you weren't looking, he clearly wasn't trying to be funny. Therefore, I think he has a sock fetish or maybe he's into you. If he's gay and you're straight, he might think you're out of reach, so if he can't have you he has transferred his desire into things of yours, clothes you wear, and/or things with your scent. He is settling for the next best thing. Or, he could have a sock fetish, in which case he likely goes around sniffing everybody's.

I don't think it's the new-scent Febreeze that's got his sniffer going!
Yeah, this guy just can't get enough of you; but I wd add that it's not any detectable odour he is after, although this may factor into his motivation, but what is mingled amongst your sock odour, shower soap, sneaker odour and sweat is your pheromone.
Yes, that undetectable scent that drives us wild about one another. He has been getting whiffs of this for sometime, and now he wants a big noseful. The idea about the sock fetish is right on, cuz in truth, he wants to sniff you from head to toe. So, since he can't do that, he's going to settle for the toe (of your sock, that is, ha-ha-ha)
But seriously, the fact that he KEPT (OMG!!!) your dirty sock in his pocket suggests he wants to keep it for perhaps a little solo action. This is icky.
What is your relationship with this guy? Are you on good enough terms to discuss this privately, seriously and in a non-treatnening or condemning way?
He needs to return the sock to you, fess up, put his cards on the table about his attrraction to you. Will you forgive him? This will be the deciding factor about whether you can stay friends.
Even though you are quite disgusted with his behaviour, you need to be the 'bigger person' here, and procede with sensitivity. Your friend obviously has alot of shame issues, and needs to know you do not judge him, but are concerned, and out of friendship, you urge him to get some help.

Maybe he has a stinky sock fetish. It is a disease. That or he is in love with you and like to smell stuff of your. But I highly doubt it. I think he has a stinky sock fetish.
