I was wondering cuz I almost hit a cat the other day, it was sitting on the sidewalk and started to run in front of me and stopped in my way... it was all i could do to stop and not hit the poor thing...

They don't understand what kind of "beast" a vehicle is. So they startle, running whichever way they're facing. If the run towards the road, they quickly become blinded and freeze in the hopes that your car won't be able to see them either. Of course it's kind of hard for people to make graceful dodges in vehicles, so things don't usually turn out well.

For real man! Its like they are standing around talking to their animal friends thinking hey wait dont cross yet! The blinking lights moving means GO!!! lol

They get blind from your headlights, plus their judgment about the object is confuting for them, they cannot understand that the car is coming towards them with a specific speed will hit them in a specific time, Amen.

They wait till they see your headlights because they wanted to make sure they were working. lol

Always remember, you can ask a deer or a cat or a squirrel if your headights are working!

Because they probably don't know what they are doing. It is really aggravating too because I always try to break for animals. They just make it really hard sometimes.

So they can see the road from your lights. They don't want to step in a pothole

because animals freeze when they see head lites. i think they go into shock, and also the lites are so damn bright, like when i see strong headlites it;s blinding. maybe their blinded for a few monutes ;then useually it;s too damn late.....
