One of my friends back in middle school tried it once, and it made me wonder...is it normal to do this?

I do. The hair on my arms is really dark and makes me self-conscious.

I actually did when I was in yr 9-yr10 (so like 15-16) only out of paranoia.
Some guy friends of mine wer jokin round bout it and I got worried...
however I have a few friends now who chose on ther own to shave or wax ther arms... its totally normal and all a personal preferance...
iv learnt that it makes no difference..

I have heard of some women doing this but, personally I wouldn't. Once you start you have to keep doing it. The hair will grow back thicker and darker maybe and longer. I really won't do it unless this is something you want to continue doing.

Normal? What's ever normal :-) lol

Shaving arms is neither right or wrong just a person's personal preference. It is normal to shave your arms if this is what pleases you.

I have very little hair on my arms, so no I don't. If for some reason you have a lot of hair, probably a hair remover product or maybe waxing, which can be painful, can resolve the problem if you think your arms are very hairy.

I have friends that are a little bohemian and they don't but, they do tend to smell a bit, I shave because it would bother me if I didn't, the itch and the smell no matter how much of anything, its more of a society type thing then it is a personal choice, so its up to you.

Well, normal could be the word if she does not like how her arms look but it would be much nicer to have laser depilation and it is definite, hair goes away for a lifetime!.
Best wishes!

Yes, I do. I prefer shaving over waxing. I am too impatient to let my hair grow out to wax.

I tried it once in junior high school. Nowadays I bleach my hair in the summer. Sometimes I don't though.
