8x-5=4x+4-2x
-4 -4
8x-9=4x-2x
8x-9=2x
+9 +9 (so there will be positives on both sides_
8x=2x+9
-2x -2x
6x=9
/6 /6
x=3/2 or 1.5

Brother isn't right

Check the results if you aren't sure
put in 3/2 for x
8(3/2)-5=4(3/2)+4-2(3/2)

12-5=6+4-3
7=7

8x-5=4x+4-2x
8x-4x+2x=4+5(collecting all the like terms)
4x+2x=9
6x=9
x=9/6
x=3/2
answer is x=3/2 and not -1/6

YOUR BRO WAS WRONG
CORRECT HIM AS WELL

8x-5=4x+4-2x

bring the like terms together
8x-4x+2x=4+5
6x=9
x=9/6=3/2=1.5=answer

8x - 5 = 4x +4 - 2x
8x - 5 = 2x +4
6x = 9
x = 9/6 = 3/2

i got 3/2 but you can wait until someone else verifies it as correct. but basically you have to get all the x's on one side so first subract 2x from 4x which leaves you with a 2x+4. then you subract that 2x from 8x on the left side and then add 5 to the right side now you have 6x=9 and then you simplify and end up with 3/2.

8x - 5 = 4x + 4 -2x (collect terms):

6x = 9 (solve for x)

x = 9 / 6

x = 3 / 2

Plug in 3 / 2 for x to check...

its 3/2

8x-5=4x+4-2x

8x-5=2x+4 (added the 4x and -2x)

6x-5=4 (subtracted the 2x)

6x=9 (added 5 to the other side)
x=3/2 (divided by 6)

no the ans is not -1 upon 6.the value of x =3/2(3 upon 2).
8x-5=4x+4-2x
= 8x-4x-5=4-2x (transposing 4x from LHS to RHS)
=8x-4x+2x=4 (transposing -2x from RHS to LHS)
=8x-4x+2x=4+5(transposing -5 from RHS to LHS)
=6x=9 (carrying out the nessecary operations....subraction,addition........)
we get:
x=9/6(transposing 6 from LHS to RHS.........in LHS 6 is carrying out multiplication with 'x'.when it goes 2 RHS it will carry out division.)
simplifying 9/6....we get x=3/2

8x-5=4x+4-2x
8x-5=4x-2x+4
8x-5=2x+4
8x-5 (+5)=2x+4 (+5)
8x=2x+9
8x (-2x)=2x+9 (-2x)
6x=9
x=3/2

the answer is 9/6, you have to get all the x terms on one side and all the other integers on the other side, then divide the regular integers by the coefficient thats comes before x to get the value of x
