Touch your elbow/forearm to the side of the door to expand the surface discharge area and then you won't feel a thing. Happens to me every winter.

Use dryer sheets. They get the static out. Remember those old commercials where ladies would rub it on their leg so their skirts didn't stick? I don't know if it works, but its worth a shot. Or stop allowing co-workers to touch you.

Don't shuffle your feet. Also do whats called "Grounding". Just touch a metal pole and all of the static in your body shoots out of your finger into the pole or metal object.

Wear shoes with rubber soles. Rubber will block the charge.
