Some are so big they won't even fit in parking spaces. I also think people should be road tested before getting put behind the wheel of something so big.

It's actually easy to drive something that big. The reason they make such big trucks is because they are meant to be farm vehicles, and as such, they are indispensable. However, the urban cowboys wanna look like they real hard working counterparts, so they have to get the big truck too.

MY question is what is the point of SUVs when they have such a poor record of stability? THOSE are the ones people need to be tested on before buying - dump the SUV on it's side, no buying one for you.

That, and an Element - reminds me of making a car out of a cardboard box as a kid - is that why they are so popular? I think I'd get better mileage with a cardboard box.

Dodge makes big pickup trucks because people buy them. What does it say about the people who drive them? Well, Dodge probably says very nice things about the people who drive them, because they're great customers.

Fortunately for you, I understand what you're trying to ask, in spite of the wording of the question!

It might say that their business requires them to be able to haul a lot of stuff or tow some big things.

It might say that their hobbies require a pickup truck.

It might say that they do a lot of charity and volunteer work that requires someone to move things from point A to point B.

It might just say that they like driving big trucks, can afford to do so, and would rather be the windshield than the bug when someone in a big rush, driving a smaller vehicle decides to play games in traffic.

And, in the U.S. states I've visited, people *are* road tested before they're allowed to drive (except in states that make exceptions for those driving farm equipment in rural areas.) It's part of the process of getting a driver's license.

this answer is for everybody. next time you want to complaint about the size of trucks look around you.you'll probably see a guy on a ford fiesta with a king size matress and a sheet of plywood on top of it.tied up with twine.Have you ever seen "A GOOFY MOVIE part 1".the people who drive them are the people that decided to spend their money on the right tool.and as far as the parking issue, average parking spaces are 10 feet wide and standard roads are 12 feet wide.the widest street legal vehicle manufactured is 8'6" that is an 18 wheeler. if they can't park its not the truck its the morron in it.

actually the hemi engine is a cleaner burning engine that takes less power to operate. And for those in work industries that require large engines this is a better alternative to the ford F350 and the massive military engine of the hummer. Chrysler has only recently broken into the luxury use of these engines if you compare to the vehicle put out by Lincoln and Cadillac, who have had their engines on the market for years yet still cant seem to figure out how to stop them from burning or leaking oil after only 80k miles...I'm honestly not saying that they are right by putting out these gas gusling giants but I think your target should be more wide spread.

I am a small girl, and love driving our Dodge Ram, windows down, country music on... call me a hick, but it makes me feel big and powerful, and thats fun.
Oh ya, and its actually easier to drive a big truck, because its much easier to see out of, so its not neccessary to have a road test, if you already have your liscence.
And, hot guys in a pick-up... mmm... I am a hick!!!

They aren't any larger than the equivalent Ford or GM product, the Daimler-Chrysler stylists just succeed in making them look larger with the heavy-truck style hood, etc.

Huh, your a rake. Last time I checked Ford and Chevy made HUGE trucks too. Why don't you worry about your own business and let people buy what they f-ing want.
