How did you deal with it if you weren't interested? Have you remained friends?

I've heard that the default rule is "Stop it, right then and there." But what if they don't get the hint or refuse to accept it? Ugh.

Yes and it's a difficult situation. I stated that I was flattered, cared about him and thought he was a great guy and that I didn't have those feelings for him. I valued his friendship and hoped my being honest with him wouldn't change anything. Being direct and honest upfront was the best thing I did. He was hurting for a little while but he quickly recovered and we remain friends.

yes I have been there, I did tell this person I liked him as a freind and nothing more I was not into a relationship with anyone for now and we did remain friends I told him I wanted to be truthful and not lead him on it was not fair to him, we did eventually grow apart but not because of this, we just got busy with other things every now and then we talk and now we ask each other for advice or what to do different on weekends just like friends should and he never forgot me because I was honest enough to tell him the truth, that I did not want to lead him on and it will work out if you are meant to be friends only good luck to you

Yes, a couple of times. We intended to stay friends, but it was just too hard. You just can't stop loving someone because you've decided to, and the other person finally decided, in both cases, to move on as soon as it was clear I wasn't going to change my mind. I still miss both of those people, but know my choice not to get romantically involved with either was sound. Sigh.

Yes and he drove me nuts. However the more I let him know I was not interested, the more determined he became. I went off to school and for years had no contact. We did cross paths several years ago...he claims he is still interested but knowing I am married, he finally laid it all down, he was defeated.

I've been in that situation. I tell them that having a relationship will just ruin our friendship. Thank God they understand and we're still friends.

That must be frustrating, maybe you just need to talk to this person and explain to them that you are'nt interested. If this person don't get it then you might have to move on and avoid this person.

It sucks cuz you don't want to hurt your friend. It really depends on the friend whether or not it will suck. Sorry, good luck!
