Absolutely!! With so much on tv about how painful labor & delivery is (over dramatized most of the time) I believe young girls would think twice about getting pg. Right now they are going by what their friends are telling them, that it wasn't really bad at all, because of the epidural.

I don't think so because the last thing on my mind when I was a teenager was whether or not I would get an epidural if I was pregnant. I do not think this would drop the pregnancy rate.

No, my cousin was a teen (15, actually) and had her birth naturally. I should also add she had her child naturally by choice. I had an epidural but there are plenty of pregnant women who aren't teens who use epidurals.
I agree with Lori. The last thing on a teen's mind when they are having sex is will I have an epidural or natural birth?

no, #1 there is to much pressure in the world. #2 that wouldn't stop them because most teen pregnancies are for the first time so they wouldn't know what labor would feel like with or without an epidural. Its gonna happen regardless.

now that is a good question to ponder for a moment...hahahah. i think it is a possibility. i do believe teen pregnancy does have something to do with the idea kids these days have that everything is easy and just waiting for them to enjoy. i can wrap my mind around the idea that childbirth being seen again as a painful experience you must endure with no pain relief could curb a few premature sexual experiences.
but as a pregnant woman i am happy as a clam that i have the option of an epidural, yet i almost wish i didn't have it as a backup. i would love to think i can do it all my own, but that option is so very tempting, and it feels almost like it is taking my strength as a woman away from me....

No, but I would cry! I think alot of young girls get pregnant with no regard for what pregnancy & childbirth is like. I don't think the epidural makes a difference. It's because premarital sex is looked at as normal and acceptable.

No, but I think if they had fourteen and fifteen year old men witness childbirth in person, it would cut the teen pregnancy rate. I witnessed it four years ago and it has been the best birth control ever since. My boss watched his wife, and was truly truamatized. They should pay women to allow sex ed classes in her delivery room...seeing it in a video definately lacks the smells, sounds, and realness necessary to have the same effect!

No, because half of them "think" they are not going to get pregnant and that "it cant happen to them"!! And it wouldn't be fair to the responsible people who are having children. The only thing that would drop the rate of teen pregnancy's is all the irresponsible teens getting their legs sown shut!!

No, teens have a hard time of predicting consequences, so the thought of pain would do nothing to them. What will drop the rate is parents being involved and not allowing their teens to put themselves in compromising positions. My mom never let my boyfriends and me be alone. She didn't let us lay down on the couch together, or go anywhere where there weren't parents around. If she hadn't been so strict, we probably would've had sex.
