To ME-HA HA- No, I made a reservation for a friend, for a round trip at delta.com. Want to cancel his reservation on one flight. They don't like the word "cancel". I think that's it.

It depends on several factors:
When is the flight?
How did you book the flight?
What kind of ticket do you have?

If you booked the flight through a travel agent or travelocity or something like that, you have to call them.
If the flight is less than 48 hours away, generally you have to call the airline directly, just make sure you have your ticket locator number (Usually a letter and number combination like YXZT2S).

Be aware that there may be no credit or refund issued for a ticket. Airlines are pretty strict about this these days. But, it depends on what type of ticket you have.

If I understand your question-- You want to stop the airplane from flying. You have to be a high up FAA official or a High up Delta Official or you can't Cancel the flight.

If you want to allow the plane to fly, but without you onboard (which is not really what you asked) - call the Delta reservation people (or your travel agent if you used one).
