I had a tubal ligation at 28, and a hysterectomy at 29 (they left my ovaries, though). I have two children (my daughter was born when I was 25, and my son when I was 27). I went in the hospital for outpatient surgery when I was 28 for what the doctors thought was endometriosis. I asked, as long as they were in there, that they tie my tubes since I like you was sure I did not want any more children. They did the tubal ligation, but discovered that I did not have endometriosis as they expected, but terrible scar tissue from my C-section a year earlier. I was told that my bowel was trapped in the scar tissue, and I would probably have to have a hysterectomy at some point in the near future. Well, that ended up being a year later.

I was not sad, because...while I love my children dearly...I was very sure that I did not want to have any more children. Plus, I had medical reasons...which of course changes your perspective.

I would suspect that you are feeling sadness because...although you are sure, it marks the end of the possibility. If you are having any doubts, you should wait, but if you are sure...this will pass and you will be just fine.

By the way, I am 36 now and have not had my period since I was 29 years old! A very nice perk!!! Good luck to you!

Well I can tell you that I had tubal ligation at the age of 23 after my second son. They did not cut, burn and tie the tubes. I got pregnant again and had my tubes cut burned and tied after i had my daughter at 25.
I am currently 31 and looking at having a hysterectomy in the next year due to female problems. I was sad to a point with the first one. Then couldn't wait for the second one. I would not change having my daughter for anything. But the problems that it caused to my body I wish i could change.
You know in your heart if you really want it done or not.
Dont do it because the Hubby/Boyfriend wants you to do so.. The other thing is talk to your significant other to see if they would have a vasectomy instead, those are reversible more so than a tubal ligation.
Good Luck and relax :)

I had mine at 31 no hysterectomy though. I still yearn for a baby but when the grand babies come it eases up. I have 4 living daughters out of 7 pregnancies The doctor said my heart wouldn't handle another one.. I must tell you that they inflate your abdomen with gas as part of the process. As soon as they let you walk get moving or the gas will take a long time to dissipate. My cut off was 30yrs old but i lost one before my youngest so i gave it one more shot. Start now looking at going back to school when the 4 yr old is ready for school. You'll be the families best asset by the time you need college money for them
You'll question for a while but realize that your free to enjoy the girls you have. There real fun at this age.

Get your tubal ligation treatment in India .IVF treatment, IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all types of medical treatment and surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for American and Canadian patients, as some of the surgery including ivf treatment is not covered by insurance.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your treatment and surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The doctors are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. I recently also read about a Chinese couple facilitated by forerunners healthcare were able to get their baby by IVF and a surrogate mother.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the forerunners healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full treatment for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.I strongly recommend this company to you as they can be of great help to you. Hope this helps.

Relax.... I had my tubes done... after 2 kids... I was 20yo.... then when I was 29yo... I had a complete hysterectomy... The only thing I can say is don't have the hysterrectomy unless they tell you that you are going to die... it's like cutting off a mans balls... it puts you into immediate menopause... like you're 60yo... man made harmones aren't like what is produce naturally by your body... Good luck and take care you'll be fine

technically veri veri minor procedure; out-patient or day-care procedure
u r too apprehensive towards the operating table/room
AND ITS NORMAL 2 b SAD
a positive approach gives better outcome
why do u ask ab hysterectomy?
theres not much if any of a problem if hyst is performed because if at all necessary to remove uterus at such young age(<30yrs) signifies BAD underlying disease where it (hyst..) will b better.
there will not b any performance problem
