Lay your baby on his/her back in front of you. There are two things you can do here to physically help your baby move gas through his or her system.

1. Bicycle your baby's legs, slowly at first, then more vigorously.

2. Give your baby a tummy massage. *Always* work clockwise so you don't move gas backward inside baby's intestines. Start on your right and make a short stroke down, using gentle but firm pressure. Then move across the top of the tummy and down the right side. Then start on the left and stroke up, over the top, and down the right. Repeat. This goes well with the song Skitta-Ma-Rinky-Dink. ;)

Gripe Water or Mylecon drops sometimes help as well.

Looking to the cause of gas -- some babies are just more gassy than others. Many outgrow it as their digestive systems mature. Your baby could be sensitive to something you're eating, like onions, broccoli, or dairy. Does it only happen after you eat certain foods or is it a constant issue? Swallowing air during nursing can also lead to gas, and as baby's latch improves, the gas should lessen.

Talk with your pediatrician first but I've found Baby Bliss Gripe Water to be a life saver. You can find it online at www.babys-bliss.com. You may be able to get it in a store near you, the web site will tell you if there's one. If not, you can order it online. I usually have my order within two days.

If you're like me, you've already tried all of the other methods and your baby still's cranky and gassy. Definitely do try any non-medicated methods first but I prefer the Gripe Water over the others since it's all natural.

Sometimes the tummy needs a little help working out the gas. Put your baby on his/her back and hold both his feet in one hand. Then pump his legs up - knees to the chest - and back down. Do this for a minute or so and baby should start pooting pretty soon, if this is the problem. This is also good body contact and face to face time - excellent for bonding.

Don't worry, mom. You and your baby will find peace. I found Baby's Bliss-Gripe water to work miracles not just for gas but for hiccups also. It can be found in Buy Buy Baby stores or somewhere else. Mylicon drops work well also. It helps if baby is burped in b/w the feeding also if not being done already.

You could use Mylicon gas drops, and see if you need to switch bottles that will have less air in them, or sometimes they need a different formula. There could be one or a combination of reasons he is gassy.

I think they say warm towel on their tummy and lay them on their tummy (DON'T LEAVE UNATTENDED BECAUSE OF SIDS).

To soothe some people swear by the "Happiest Baby" book (5 S's: Shush, Swing, Swaddle, Sucking, Side/Stomach), but for my baby she liked to bounce. We'd cradle her in our arms and bounce on one of those big exercise balls. She'd usually settle down in 2-4 bounces, but she's also know within a bounce when you stopped and complained.

Try rubbing a bit of olive oil on your hands, then on his stomach. put something on his tummy to keep it warm.
This is to help him get the air out if his stomach is full of air.
