i called the dr today in a lot of pain...she said it sounded like i might be getting ready to go into labor i am around 37 weeks...to go to the hospital and get checked out. i waited in the waiting room for 3 hours cause they had no beds available...by the time i was being checked out i was having frequent contractions and 3 cm dialated...they sent me home after a few hours because my cervix wasnt moving and they had 3 more patients ready to pop the baby out they needed the beds...so i have been home now for a few hours but the contractions seem to have gotten not as strong. my husband me and my daughter went for a walk then my husband and i had sex...to try to pump them back up because obviously i want this over with. then i took a warm bath...but things still seem pretty much the same. do i still have days or weeks to be anticipating this thing or what?? i want this baby out yesterday and i dont know if i can take much more. please help

Call your doctor back again first thing in the morning and see if you can get in to see them. My boss was dilated to 2 and having contractions for several weeks and her son was born jsut 2 days before his due date.

Walking is a nice, safe activity for you. It's also a good idea to get some rest.

It'll be over soon. It's hard to just relax, but it would be very good for you to try. Close your eyes, practice your breathing.

When he's ready, this second baby could come really quickly -- the second (and subsequent) ones are usually faster labors than the first. You've already done some work. You're going to be great! Hang in there and pretty soon things will move quickly.

Here's something to do (and get your husband to help you) while you're waiting:

Be patient. I would just try to stay comfortable. Try not to eat anything because when you do go into labor, maybe in a few hours, you will see the food all over again. Try to rest because you will definitly need it. I had contractions all day before my son was born. Went to the hospital when they were 5 minutes apart and had him an hour and a half later. I was sent home too.

CONGRATULATIONS!

If you're already at a 3, I doubt you could have more than a week. Sounds like you're doing things right. Walking is definitely a good idea. I ate spicy food the night before I went into labor, so maybe try that too? I'm sure it's awful to wait and wait like that, but it'll be here before you know it. Rent a good movie, eat some spicy chicken, and just chill. Good luck with your baby, and take care of yourself!!

I definitely wouldn't try to bring on the contractions just yet. You're 37 weeks... full term is 38 weeks. I would hold on and not rush it. Then again... you really don't have a say in this. If the baby is ready... you'll have him/her. Some women stay at 3cm for days... just hang in there... it'll come before you know it.

thats what happened to me darl! Go to your doctor and ask for them to do a membrane sweep.. I was having the exact same thing for three weeks before i gave birth, and the only reason my waters broke and i went into full labour was because of the membranes sweep. Who knows how long i couldve gone. If you havent heard of it before, they get between the membranes and the cervix and sweep their fingers across. It doesnt break your waters or anything but its guaranteed that labour will start within 48hours. I was 3cms dilated when i had mine done and within 4 hours i was in some pretty harsh pain with contractions and started to vomit, then the next day i was pretty good and my waters broke. It took 28hours until my waters broke from the time of membrane sweep. goodluck darls, i recommend this totally!!!

usually, 39 weeks is the best time to give birth, the baby is mature enough to survive in the outside world. 37 weeks is still preterm, if you intend to give birth at this point, you're baby might have some problem. why dont u wait for 2 more weeks then u can ask your dr to induce your labor. congrats.

Patience. When the baby is ready, it will come. It's not your schedule here, it's the baby's. You can't make the baby do what you want it to. Unless you find a doctor to induce you. But it does sound to me like you need to switch hospitals.

lol , i sympathize with you , after have 4 children of my own , i would say you could go at any time , but a week , more than likley , you are probably having braxton hicks contractions , not to worry , just watch for the bloody show or your mucus plug , ,

L. B. ps if you are still concerned , go back to the hospital , to heck with them sending you home , it is your baby and your body , and piece of mind

I know those last weeks seem like forever. Unfortunately, babies come when they want to! You are fine, just as long as your water hasn't broken...to have sex...be careful!

I agree with others, at 3cm you are ready in the next week at the most...congrats! Get rest now while you can!!!!!
