The most pointless class I ever took in college would have to be REL 110--Life and Teachings of Jesus. First, the class was at 7:45AM!!!! All the coffee in the world can't keep a college student alert that early. Second, a pastor taught the class and he spent more time discussing the perils of showing one's belly button in public then on Jesus. Third, he assigned seats and all the girls ended up in the back of the class room. Forth, I spent more time writing the words "forgive me father, for I have sinned" on the margins of my bible then actually paying attention. He was a very angry, frustrated, and boring man.
It was a required class and only offered once a year early in the morning. My other religious classes (thank God) were not as boring. The class was more of a right of passage then a learning experience. It gave you and instant conversation starter with the upper class-men.

It would have to be "Introduction to Microcomputers", everyone has to take the class at Northwestern Technical College. I know that not everyone is computer literate, but 99% of the students in the class grew up with computers in their homes. What a waste of students and instructors time.

This may sound weird, but many of my "teaching" classes seemed important at the time, but now 25 years into my teaching career, I realize they were pointless. all that theory and dumb papers I had to write, my first 5 years of teaching is where I actually learned how to teach. It's mostly an art, and not something you can teach "how to do".

I'd have to say this chemistry class I took. I'm an ARTS major, and at my college, they require you to take chemistry if you're an art major. Pointless, difficult, and a waste of time/effort/money!

First Year Experience, without a doubt... I'm sure every school has something like this class, maybe "freshman survey" or something that like. I literally learned nothing in that class. Total waste of $1500 for me. :-P

Film study.
All we did was watch Harry Potter and write a paper on it.
It was an honors class no less!
