first. what freedom do people deserve?
what freedoms do we really have?
who is to say what is deserved or not?
and ominously as always. why?
if we are the dominant intelligent life on the planet then its up to us to become self governing.
would you prescribe anarchy where you are fighting for scraps of meat in the street and never learn a language outside your clan?
Even there you would be governed.
Arent you glad someone was there to keep your butt in line during your youth to help you focus and learn?
How much freedom do people deserve in such a short lifespan when they are being educated constantly about the world that was just before them? The world they will only deepen in complexity with thier own works.
In the US you could run off into the mountains and stay out in the woods feeding off the land if you wanted to...if you could...can you?
Otherwise you keep your butt in some form of civilization to thrive. Civilizations require civility, and there definately is a concept of right and wrong there. Either by spirit or writ of law. Its to protect people from people themselves.
Even civilizations clash. So again there needs to be civility above civilizations to keep them in line.
For a time we had an optimistic panel called the United Nations.
But they are too corrupt because thier positions and actions are not well defined and limited enough to bear the weight of this responsibility.
You have all the freedom in the world to do whatever you want to do. But in any action you must prepare to face consequences or side effects.
Generally, people suck left to thier whims without restraint.
just an opinion

No one "deserves" anything. We earn or fight for our rights or desires. Freedom in America was "fought" for by many courageous and heroic men/women who died for this great gift that can be so easily overlooked and taken for granted. People who believe that freedom is free are lost souls. Freedom was never free, and never will be.

No. If we had all the freedome we deserve the government wouldn't be able to tell us what to do in any aspect of our lives. The only laws we would have would be crimes against other people, not for stupid things like drug use or not wearing your seat belt.

We only really have one freedom, and that is the freedom to chose what we will do next.

Real freedom is about understanding you can change the world by changing yourself and not trying to change others.
