Stitches can be left in for as little as a week, but the wound needs to be healed before they are taken out. If you have any concern about infection call your doctor. Stitches do not have to be comfortable, especially in the hand where there is a lot of motion.

Stitches are there to hold the skin in place while you heal, if you pull them out before your ready, you could have a ugly hole, or worse, a scare, 10 days is a good time to take out stitches,
if you have a infection, you need a triple ointment, and a clean bandage. stitches or no stitches, you need medication on your womb. If they will dissolve, keep it covered till they do, no one needs to know, use the antibacterial spray, if nothing else. That will kill pain, and infection. You will feel better.

Go to your doctor and see, if they are wrong then get more reput in your hand. its better to go thru a little pain now then get a big frekin scare on your hand, or get it infected or amputated or something !!! Im a 12 yr. od and ive had 3 sets of stiches, 2 from softball. One time during my practie my stiches busted but i was getting ready to start my turnament so i just sucked it up and played 3 games strait and by then practily all my stiches were torn it was nasty. now i have a huge scare that will be there forever !!! not fun

lots of cases. some stitches are created from a cloth that dissolved after some days, so the stitches do not would desire to be bumped off. I had a bike twist of fate some years in the past and that i've got been given a super shrink on my face (I landed on my chin). They extra in a plastic well-being care provider to close the wound to shrink the scarring. He shot novocaine everywhere in the wound and commenced sewing it up. Then he advised me he had to place one sew in outdoors the 'blocked' (anesthetized section) and might that be ok or did i desire extra novocaine? I advised him to purely bypass forward (i might already been by way of lots). So i actually felt the needle and thread dealing with my epidermis. It wasn't as undesirable as I predicted.

You should never do it on your own. If they look like they are infected and are causing you that much discomfort, call the doctor who put them in and tell them the wound is infected. If you don't get it taken care of, you could end up with gangrene and lose your hand.

Call your doctor's office.
Ask to speak to the nurse.
Ask her if and when you can take them out.
She'll probably ask the doctor and call you back with the answer.
Follow your doctor's orders.
