One of the first truths that the Christian church learned was the value of terror. Make the suckers afraid. Convince them that some boogyman will get them. Tell them that they need the Christian mythology to protect them from the danger. Presto, the sucker buys into the lie, pays his money and surrenders his freedom to the all-knowing church.

Terror has proven to be the best way to get people to give up their liberties and independence. The Republicans learned from Christian mythology. They invent devils and then present themselves as the only effective protection from the supposed threat. The classic example was the "Red Menace."

Be afraid, VERY afraid. Be afraid of the Christian crazies and of the Republicans and their Christian agenda. Otherwise, I extol FDR's axiom of freedom from fear.

As a Christian, I fear that Bush is giving a bad name to Christianity. He shows no humility, admits no mistakes and listens to no one. I think he's too full of himself. And the fact that he employs a character assassin like Karl Rove doesn't speak well for him either.

I really hope no one thinks he's the typical Christian.

Now I am not a Christian myself, but I feel compelled to take a devil's advocate perspective here. (Probably because I am contrary by nature :)). Unfortunately, I really couldnt properly object because I could not determine your answer to the question. To be sure, the early christian church would have followed ann coulter's suggestion (that is to " We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity"). But there is a very good argument to be made that the early christian church violated the teachings of christ, and as so are themselves not true christians. Just look at how the early christian church treated the Manicheans.

What is the true spirit of christianity? I assume that is how we would judge someone's adherance to its' tenants. That is a question probably far too deep for Yahoo answers. Mu.

Looks like you already answered your own question. But aside from that, how dare you suggest that the Red Menace was somehow contrived, or any less than the evil it was. Are you a communist sympatheizer? Do you make excuses for the over 100 million people who have died in the name of Communism? Perhaps, son you should learn something about that which you speak upon: http://www.victimsofcommunism.org/

Every Christian is a human being first. The question of "Good or bad" comes later. First decide is he a human being?
