I use a number of different methods. I sprinkle baking soda under my carpets if there are mildew stains there. I use a dehumidifier in each room. I spray bleach on areas that won't be ruined. I use "carpet cleaner" to clean purses and leathers and suitcases that come out of storage with mildew. (That's a tip from our local drycleaners.)

The home needs to be cleaned well with a bleach solution. Good ventilation is the key to keeping the mold gone, because it will keep the area dry. If the mold is on walls, you need to call a professional to remove the mold. They can tell you how much mold you actually have, that you're not seeing. Keep fans turned on the areas that have the mold.

Put a fan in the attic. Make sure it has a humidistat. Get a dehumidifier. Use one part chlorine bleach to 3 parts water and add some Soilex to the mix. That should remove the mildew from the walls .

First use bleach to remove the mildew. then make sure the area is completely dry, then get a mildew resistant paint to paint over it. If your home has a lot of moisture, get a dehumidifier. I also have used a product called Damp-Rid to get rid of the smell. this comes in either a small container or a hanger to hang in a closet or wherever.

Remove it with bleach. Get a dehumidifier---very good and almost essential. Some kitty litter in a shallow pan will help attract moisture and coal in a shallow pan will absorb the odor too. Thanks.
