We won't change, the only change will revolve around earth, not because we may be the only intelligent life form. We are just here, floating in the galaxy, it's very weird once you get thinking about it !. If we are not the only intelligent life form, l hope the other life forms that are find us quickly and sort this messy planet out...i.e...like stopping the wars, starvation, global warming, murder, terror etc. Thinking of that, how intelligent are we to be killing our own?.

Considering that to prove we are the only intelligent life we would have to thoroughly search the entire universe then more than likely we'll die off or the universe will end before we actually can say that conclusively.

Then on top of that you have to consider evolution, during all that time searching even if theres nothing else out there almost certainly some other species would evolve to have sentience on earth.

Given the vastness of space the the likely low density of intelligence in the universe, the truth of the matter is that even it we did discover intelligent life elsewhere we would not be able to interact over the distances involved. We are isolated already - I doubt proving that we are alone would change that.

Also proving we are alone in going to be almost impossible, there are 100 billion stars in the galaxy and about 100 billion galaxies, so we have no way to visiting every star in the universe.

You are not alone and are a very minor species in this galaxy, little more than a footnote unfortunately. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

Most people don't even care if they are the only (to them) intelligent life form on their block, let alone the universe. They wouldn't change, so the change would only affect intelligent people such as you and I. One more disappointment to add to the books.

Recorded history of man goes back nearly 7000 years and we are still murdering each other and partaking in needless wars. If we haven't change in all this time then what do you think? Despite what people want to think there still exists the drive to become the superior race.

I believe in aliens, but if we were the only life forms in the universe, we would have been the only life forms all this time and it wouldn't make any difference.

If we were, there would be no competition and no galactical olympics. We would most likely take along time to advance in technology and we would have to learn alot from our mistakes which seems like people dont seem to do that too often.
