The only thing i own that i really want to take with me is my bed. Any recommendations?

The roof of your car! Shipping a bed to the East coast is very costly. Oh yea you might want to cover it with plastic.

Unless you have money stuffed in it, my suggestion would be to sell it and buy another one when you get to your destination.

it will cost more to ship than to buy new when you get where you are going.
