Yes, I've traveled there and it was spectacular - I went during the fall foliage but most of the year it is beautiful. Lots of great little towns and the ocean fronts are something to see - of course, dining on Maine lobster is a must!
Winters are very cold with lots of snow but great if you like winter weather - middle of summer may be a bit warm for me - but staying near the ocean would be the ticket during that time of year.
I think one should visit as many states as possible in ones lifetime - why not?! Go to Maine and have a great time. :)

We went there last year. We went to Acadia National Park, which was amazingly beautiful. We had dinner in Bar Harbor (lobster of course) and then drove to Augusta and stayed the night. In the morning, we went to the State Capital building and then drove to Portland. There, we took a steam-powered train along the waterfront and had lunch downtown in their historic district.
What we saw of Maine was absolutely gorgeous and I hope to go back one day!

Yes - & I LOVED IT!!
I wouldn't want to go outside of June, July or August (I was there one year in July and the evenings were cool enough for me to turn on the heater in my car).
I have been along the coast from Kittery to Portland and it is just beautiful!!!
I would love to get to Bar Harbor sometime, too.

I've been there and loved it. Very cool and quaint. Make sure that you drive on their back roads, especially this time of year with the foliage!
