Definitely. Especially in the more sensitive areas like the religion forum. Take a look at it sometime. I go there out of (morbid) curiosity and several people make blatant attempts to incite hatred and hurt. I recognise their names and I no longer look at their questions but I do notice that alot of people answer them. It does nothing other than encourage more vitriol. You simply ignore them. But some people, mainly the fundamentalists get freaked out and continue to protest. It's all very pathetic. Both the people who ask them and the people who answer them.

No way, Jose! They pose questions of ANY sort, because the feedback can be hilarious, educational, entertaining, etc. Don't get too technical here. You will get some good answers to questions, and then.... you get ME! LOL And since I think there is humor in everything, I TRY to be nice. However.....

Probably about 90% of the questions in the Religion and Politics sections are like that :)

Yes, I think that most people who ask those type of questions are seeking attention - negative or otherwise....But, I'm sure there are the few that really believe in what they are asking/answering...

I'm pretty sure that 70% are for the shock effect. You know they're just teenagers, but all you wanna say is GROW UP.I'm pretty sure that I was a goofy teen too.I just didn't get to SHARE my "special" self like all these teens do.Just one of the downsides to the world wide web

Do you think that some people pose questions whose answers are knowingly obvious to get attention?

Some people believe that negative attention is better than no attention at all.

Do some people post for that reason?
Methinks that many people do.

I think it happens all the time. For instance, those on here who CONSTANTLY ask about "neocons" (and to be fair, those who ask constantly about liberals) just to get a negative reaction. Of course, most of them aren't bold enough to even have a profile with anything about their real selves. They just have fake names with fake pictures to hide behind.

I think so. Some want to see who else, or how many people actually have similar experience so they can feel good that they're not the only ones.
