Can possession of Mary Jane really be brushed off?

Question

I was listening to the radio when something came on about willie nelson being pulled over in his bus and found to have pot (no surprise) and this woman calls in after they tell the story of what happened and said she is a lawyer and blah blah and THEN went on to say if you're caught with 1/4 ounce or less the police will just crush it up or confiscate it and tell you to go on about your business, no cuffs, no fine, nothing. I live in new york and I find this a bit hard to believe. Anyone know if it's true? Also, if having items used in the consumption of drugs is illegal how can smoke shops sell pipes and bongs? Only bongs I ever saw were used for one thing and one thing only. I'm just wondering because I was discussing that much with a friend and he says one thing and I say another. If anyone can give me answers for either one I'd appreciate it. If both than even better. Thanks.

Up here in Canada you can get away with almost an ounce most of the time. As long as you don't have scales or a debt list or the weeds in baggies. And be very nice to the officer

In some states I think that is true. I know that some state in New England it is a ticket, they confiscate the pot and give you a ticket. Smoke shops also sell herbs which could be smoked with the paraphenalia.

you are technically allowed to have a small amount for personal use. If you get arrested for it, the idea is that by the time you come to court for your initial appearance, there must be a lab report (which never happens) so the mj charge is automatically reduced to a violation, or dismissed. The bongs, if you notice, all disclaim on them that "these are for use with tobacco products" thats how they get around it.

Yes I have seen it first hand where officers find a joint or two on someone and they merley crush it in the ground and give them a lecture ( always expect teh lecture)

It is not worth the paper work. In some areas you can give them a ticket to appear in court, where you can do that most will give the ticket

It is different in different states and counties. In NY it might seem impossible, but in Northern Cali, it is different. DAs prosecute differently.
As far as smoke shops go, the employees and owners will always claim that it is for tobacco. If you are in a smoke shop and you claim it is for something else, they might ask you to leave. Like saying bomb at an airport. Just don't do it. :)

confident. it is going to take the means off the black marketplace and could convey hefty tax gross sales. Legalize it, alter it and acquire the rewards. There has on no account been one learn that discovered any harm, different than the act of respiration in smoke. Alcohol is a poison, it somewhat is poisonous yet it somewhat is served to all people and absolutely everyone over the age of 21. Your ordinary pot smoker isn't the looser on his mom's settee, they're typical people. corporation vendors, experts and tax paying electorate.

where i live ( and it is in the U.S) i have had lots of police officers tell me that if they get a call that someone has pot, or even smoking it they won't even worry about it. If it is found on your person they just keep it and let you go. i think the police has more to worry about then who has pot on them.

alot of judges are more lenient with smaller possesions of pot than they are with other drugs like coke, thats a fact. they know they burn one every now and then.
