Because:
a) Jesus was silent on homosexuality
b) Love is God, and I will NOT stop God from creating love

The legislation to accept or give rights of marriage to gay people is an intriguing poser.
The Bible does indeed forbid sexual relations between people of the same sex. The proponents of that legislation believe the Bible is outdated and therefore it really is of no relevance if today's society. The argument is that Jesus and God are forgiving beings, which is true. By being so forgiving, many believe that there transgressions are forgiven as long as they continue to ask for that forgiveness. Unfortunately, everybody reads and interprets the Bible to suit their needs or to justify there own shortcomings. Withour getting into a long diatribe, the answer is that when ever we allow God to become less of a controlling figure in our lives, we will become morally defunct, and before you know it God is no longer a recognizable authority. I would caution and pose this question. "What do all of the major empires that once ruled the world have in common? The answer is that they all left God.

why do do some Christians think it's a Christian ideal to force others to obey words in their bible? Do you think Christ would approve of ferreting out the gays and stoning them? Why are some Christians so concerned over this issue...I'm not gay, but I simply don't care if someone else is...what they do doesn't affect me. There is a battle goiong on between extremist Christians and gays...why do they care...sounds homophobic to me. As long as they aren't married in your church (because you can have whatever race or creed you want in yours and keep the others out) why would this bother you.

Actually, few of us are trying to promote gay marriage. The media just makes it seem so. Its actually a lopsided issue where many democrats side with conservatives.

The bible is not translated very well, was written thousands of years after Christ, and is taken out of context!

Religion has nothing to do with gay marriages, their ability to receive benefits do! It all comes down to money, not religion!

And who made you God?

Maybe because we need to give EVERYONE equal rights in this country. Christianity is not the NATIONAL religion. The US was formed to allow all peoples the right to worship whatever religion they want. Christians have no right to impose their beliefs on the rest of the country. No one is asking you to marry gays in your churches, just to be allowed to marry.

because it's equal opportunity marriage! jk...i am a christian, and i don't oppose same sex unions. i do however draw the line at calling it a marriage. a marriage by definition is an oath between man and woman. so as long as you are changing the meaning of marriage have at it. hell with the divorce rate as it is anyway, who knows maybe they will be the ones maried forever.
