I believe you are referring to a corticosteroid, or adrenocorticosteroid. These are steroid hormones that are produced by the adrenal cortex, usually as a response to stress. The major native adrenocorticosteroid is cortisol, but we have now made many synthetic forms that are available, such as prednisone, methylprednisolone, dexamethasone, to name a few of a very long list. Just type these words into google and see what turns up.
