it is probably more important ot know how to subtract the fractions then to know the answer. To subtract fractions a/b - c/d you use this formula: (ad - bc)/(bd). for example. Using your two fractions: (1*2-12*1)/(12*2)=(2-12)/(24)=(-10)/24=(-5)/12 after reducing.
