What kind of map? A street map drawn on paper generally has 2 dimensions, length and width. Maps with elevation can have color or texture representing a 3rd dimension (height) although the actual projection is 2-D. Relief maps can even be "molded" to model a the 3rd dimension so that you physically represent length, width, and height. If you consider a globe, it's a 3-D object with either a 2 or 3-D representation of the Earths surface.

I doubt any map has just one or fewer dimensions, it would be impossible to see.

Some maps may have more dimensions if you are talking about physics or quantum mechanics. A 4th dimenstion could be time. Who knows what others could be?
