From my research the two, crime and deviance are usually not discussed together, they are generally posted into different subjects, but I need to know for a researc paper in criminology how I would describe the difference, in detail between deviance and criminality, one article said, all people are some what deviant but not everyone is a criminal, what would you say to that?

Deviance is doing anything that goes against societal norms. Criminality is doing anything that goes against society's laws. They are related in that most of our laws deal with deviant behavior. You can't murder someone, steal from someone, etc. These are laws. You can wear a block of cheese on your head, paint your face different colors, get tattooed all over your body. These are deviant acts. I think everyone is deviant in at least one aspect of their lives - the norms that a society forms are what the average acceptable behavior is for that society so it's going to be somewhere in the middle of how people behave.
You also need to consider that not all criminal behaviors are deviant. I usually speed when I'm driving. It's against the law to do so, but it's in no way deviant. I've got plenty of company when I'm driving fast! Illegal immigration is against the law, but there are lots of illegal immigrants here. That's not a deviant act.

Criminality can be a perception which is influenced by culture. Here in the US, for instance, we tend to frown on cyber fraud.
I'm starting to wonder if in Nigeria, this isn't seen as such a criminal thing. It may be deviant, but many might consider this a natural way to try to siphon wealth from fools to more needy, if not more deserving, individuals.
Another example is the number of "corridas" or Mexican folk ballads celebrating the "narcotraficantes" and "coyotes" who run drugs and people back and forth across the border. Some of these criminals are clearly breaking the law, but in the subculture of Mexican poverty and the borderlands, they are seen as Robin Hood type figures.
We in the US tend to lionize our Mafia personalities. The press glorifies such criminals as John Gotti and Al Capone, or Bonnie & Clyde. They are then seen as not so much deviants but cunning and defiant anti-heroes, admired in a back-handed way.
I'd say deviance relates to breaking or straying from social norms, while criminality is the habitual violation of the law, and the mindset behind it.

Deviance is simply the recognized divergence from perceived normal.
Criminality is any act covered under criminal law. There are actually many acts so covered that are not widely considered deviant, take smoking pot, drinking to excess, cheating on taxes, skipping jury duty, etc.
