It depends on where you live. If you live in the United States, it depends on what state you live in.

Legalities:
So far only one state, Florida, totally bans gay adoption.

Nine states allow for openly gay and lesbian couples to adopt jointly:
California
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
Ohio
Vermont
Washington
Wisconsin
as well as D.C.
It is more common for one partner to adopt and then for the second to apply as the second parent, or co-parent. Second parent adoptions creates a second legally recognized parent for the adoptive children. This is the only way for gay couples to both become legal parents of their children. Second parent adoptions have been granted by the courts in twenty-one states as well as D.C. These states include - Alabama, Alaska, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.

In most places, yes. I think you can look it up online to find out if it's legal in your area.

If not, you can do something about it! Write to your legislators. Do a little research - some people still have their heads in the sand and are unwilling to believe that homosexuals can raise successful kids (or straight kids, if that's the stick up their butts), which is totally NOT TRUE. Have your evidence on hand so it's clear you know what you're talking about.

There are hundreds of kids out there waiting for a good home, and you can point that out, too.

I hope you get to adopt the child you're waiting for!

no but it is hard for them to adopt, i would like to point out that all the gay couples that i know that has kids, there kids grew up they where not gay. I know there is people out there that think that if a gay couple has kids that there kids when they grow up will be gay but that is not at all true.
