They of all people should be humble considering their origins. France didn't send its best and brightest to Quebec after all. Instead, criminals, peasants, prostitutes, and other undesireable were sent to New France. Do they suffer from penis envy in regards to France, and try to emulate their old world counterparts?

Great question because I've always wondered why them and even the French in France are arrogant. I think you're right about the envy

I'm from Montreal (English-speaking though) and have met French-Canadians with plenty of bad qualities (and others or also with plenty of good qualities), but the only one I can think of that I would ever call arrogant would be Pierre Trudeau. (Who was a quarter English I believe) (OK I didn't really meet him, but I passed him on the street one day when I was in university and he was probably 75; I smiled at him and he smiled back and I swooned.)

Sorry, what was the question? I went to his funeral too but only in the crowds outside.

I just thought of another arrogant French-Canadian, and one of the things that people thought arrogant about him (he was a high-school teacher so mostly his students) was that he *did* seem to try to emulate the French, had a very French (as opposed to Quebecois) accent (in French). And that he taught English, probably.

I'm wondering from where (if anywhere) you got your idea that French-Canadians are arrogant?

So we should strike out at people because of their origins now. That is a sad situation. I have known many French Canadians and have not found them to be arrogant, in fact all the ones I have known have been very warm and friendly. Maybe this phrase applies here, "You get what you give", people treat you as you treat them and if you are behaving stuck up and arrogant than that is how they will behave towards you. C'est la vie. Bonne soir est bonne chance mes amie.

If you can't understand something than label it, that's what most ignorant people do because it is easier than finding out for yourself. If everything you know comes from late-night talk shows you are bound to have a lot of opinions that are given to you. Go there with an idea of learning something and you may gain a different insight.
