When I tell my friends that if and when I get married, I do not want a wedding ceremony or reception (fairytale like/big fancy gathering, etc) they all think I'm crazy. Am I weird, or are there any other females out there who also have no desire whatsoever in having a big glamorous ceremony/reception?

I had no desire for a wedding ceremony or reception. I went down to the court house, signed the papers and went to a Mexican restaurant. The money we saved, we invested in our second home. I agree with you 100%.

I totally feel ya. I don't want anything big. Maybe I want a pretty dress. But I don't like the whole deal where all your family from all over the world comes to watch you walk down an isle and afterwords you all go to another place where they watch you dance and everyone gets drunk and crazy. It's going to be our day anyway... why go crazy and get wrapped up in everything that comes with a wedding/ceremony/reception?

I want a fairly simple wedding but I do kinda want the traditional stuff. I have a few friends who don't care about any of it though. One of my friends is just going to have a cook-out. Do whatever YOU want to do! Make sure you find a guy that supports that. You'd be surprised...I never really cared much about my wedding and my boyfriend has huge dreams about his...lol. Just make sure you're both in agreement. Guys have wedding dreams sometimes too.

You are not strange, or wierd, or crazy. Your head is on straight. My wife and I eloped a long time ago. She has never expressed regrets about not having a big wedding. I know that we love each other. And we laugh a lot. It's like we're still dating.

You're not strange at all. Lots of people have civil ceremonies and many elope just to avoid all the stress and mayhem that a big "to-do" can bring. I did it myself as well.

Your friends don't realize that people have diffrent opinions about things. If the world were filled with people of the same opinion than it would be very boring. Your not wierd and keep living life for the things and the people you love.

to me it doesnt matter how much is spent, or where it is or when it is. just as long as i marry him. you are in your right mind- marriage isnt about the ceremony, engagement isnt about the ring, its about the life long commitment being made. congrats and good luck!

No you're not weird at all. You are real, and obviously you value much deeper things in life.

Kudos to you!
